Prolonged protests by dialysis and transplant patients of FBiH

(Patria) - An assembly of the Association of Dialysis and Transplant Patients of FBiH was held in Sarajevo today, where it was decided that eventual patient protests will be postponed indefinitely.

The session was preceded by an introductory speech by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Health, namely the minister's advisor and the director of the Center for Transplant Medicine at the Federal Ministry of Health.

The hosts of the meeting were informed in detail about the current situation, especially about what the Ministry plans to do regarding dialysis, particularly medicines, and the new Rulebook on Dialysis Conditions, as well as the future of transplantation in FBiH.

During the presentation, a discussion also developed, which resulted in new insights into the difficult situation of dialysis patients, which the Ministry representatives carefully noted and promised to do everything they can to improve the situation.

The assembly continued with the adoption of the agenda, work reports, financial report, and the plan and program for 2025/26.

When the agenda item concerning potential protests was reached, after a brief discussion, it was unanimously decided to postpone the protests in order to give time and another chance to the Federal Ministry of Health and clinical centers to fulfill what they have announced and promised.

If nothing significant changes in the next few months, protests will be inevitable.

Under the item "miscellaneous," numerous other problems faced by dialysis and transplant patients were discussed, and it was concluded that the Association will respond to the competent institutions and seek certain changes for the benefit of its members and those who are not.

The assembly gathered patients from almost the entire FBiH who came to present the problems they have in their dialysis centers, which are various difficult situations requiring urgent action from those responsible.

The session concluded with a certain apprehension, fear, but also moderate optimism that things will change for the better for this patient population in the coming period.
