Project for students with special needs: Association Duga receives 3,000 KM donation

 

The Association Duga has launched a project to enhance the functionality of children with special educational needs attending Silvije S. Kranjčević Elementary School in the Centar municipality of Sarajevo, for learning and participation in the community they live in, writes the Patria News Agency.

The project includes eight students with special needs. At least fifteen guardians will also be intensively involved in the project. Within the project, expert support from educators and counseling for parents will be provided.

The Centar Municipality pays special attention to the education of young people and persons with disabilities, as well as children with developmental difficulties. On this occasion, the Centar Municipality supported this humanitarian project of the Association Duga with 3,000 KM.

Selma Šarka from the finance department of the Association Duga expressed special gratitude to the Centar Municipality for their support, hoping that the good cooperation will continue.

-The project will be implemented in September. It is envisioned that the association's team will hold regular meetings with parents, teachers, and pedagogues, with the aim of monitoring the child as effectively as possible. Information about changes will be exchanged at the meetings to better track and understand the child's progress. In previous years as well, this local community has supported the work of our association, and we are very grateful for that, Šarka stated.

300,000 KM allocated from the budget for NGOs

In this year's budget of the Centar Municipality, 300,000 KM has been allocated for the support of projects by non-governmental organizations and associations, of which 41,500 KM has been awarded to associations implementing projects related to assistance for persons with disabilities and intellectual difficulties.
