Project worth 220,000 KM: Merhamet and HIA begin house reconstruction in Nemila

Today, HO “Merhamet” MDD  and the International Humanitarian Organization HIA from Hungary began implementing the project „Aid to families affected by floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zenica - Local Community Nemila“, worth around 220,000 KM, reports the Patria news agency.

The project aims to help the population of the Nemila local community whose households were destroyed or damaged by natural disasters that occurred in BiH in May 2014.

This project covers 34 families. It provides donations of construction materials, electrical materials, plumbing materials, installation of joinery (windows, entrance doors, and interior doors), and the complete construction of one house is planned.

The completion of the project, supported by funds from the organization “Diakonie” from Austria, is planned by March 31 this year.

The President of HO "Merhamet" MDD, Hajrudin Šahić, emphasized that the reconstruction of houses in the Nemila local community is one of the most significant "Merhamet" projects after the unprecedented floods and landslides hit BiH.

- "Merhamet" has provided and delivered aid worth more than 1.1 million KM for the affected areas in the Zenica Municipality alone to date. The total aid delivered to citizens across BiH amounted to more than two million KM - Šahić said today, adding that "Merhamet" will continue to help the population of this country whose homes were destroyed during the catastrophic floods and landslides.

The Mayor of Zenica Municipality, Husejin Smajlović, who attended the distribution of aid to the residents of the Nemila local community, thanked "Merhamet", emphasizing that this humanitarian organization has been with the population in the affected areas of Zenica Municipality from the very first day and that the assistance provided by "Merhamet" so far is very significant and valuable.
