GOLD Project Provides Strong Support to Local Communities

The main goal of the USAID/Sida Growth Oriented Local Development (GOLD) Project is strong support to local communities in economic development, attracting investments and creating new jobs, reports the Patria news agency.  

Given that the Centar Sarajevo Municipality is a signatory to the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the implementation of the GOLD project, representatives of USAID led by the director of the GOLD project for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gabriel Abraham, held a meeting with representatives of the Centar Municipality, where they discussed the cooperation so far and future projects aimed at improving local economic development.

Expressing satisfaction with this visit, advisor to the municipal mayor Mustafa Resić informed the guests about the current projects that the Centar Municipality plans to implement with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens, improving business operations and protecting the environment.

-We informed the representatives of the USAID/Sida GOLD project about the development of the Centar Municipality Development Strategy for the period 2016-2022. The basics of that document were presented with an emphasis on tourism development, development of public-private entrepreneurship, construction of facilities with renewable energy sources, support for young people, and solving the problem of stationary traffic.

In the area of the Centar Municipality, there is a possibility for the development of agricultural and greenhouse production, which can contribute to the employment of people and the overall development of the Centar Municipality. Our interest is to establish good cooperation with future investors with the aim of increasing investments in the economy and development, said Resić.

The meeting was also attended by Fahrudin Kurtović, assistant mayor for economy and finance, it was announced from the Centar Municipality.
