Professor Emir Ramić receives threats from Facebook profile Srbska garda, reported to SIPA

Writer Ibrahim Kajan has appealed for the protection of Emir Ramić, director of the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada (IGK), who has been under constant threats and verbal harassment for several months via the Facebook profile Srbska garda, email, and phone.

Dr. Emir Ramić is a professor at the University of Hamilton, and the brutal threats to his physical integrity and life have also been reported to the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

Furthermore, under Dr. Ramić's leadership, the Institute has achieved significant results in collecting and systematizing data on war crimes and the genocidal extermination of the Bosniak and Croat populations, particularly in Prijedor, where he was born and where he himself experienced the greatest suffering during the war aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dr. Ramić is himself a witness to the greatest human atrocities, carried out by people whose names he remembers.

- An official letter regarding these threats, with the intervention of the Sarajevo Institute for Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo, signed by the director Dr. Rasim Muratović, was sent on November 23, 2015, to the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, Mr. Perica Stanić, who received it and forwarded it to the entity police of Republika Srpska. We are not aware of any investigation results regarding the presented letter from Dr. Muratović.

Fearing for Dr. Emir Ramić's life, I am sending a strong appeal for his protection and the removal of the threats that are continuously being disseminated, affecting his health, with an apparent announcement of the escalation of more radical forms of violence against him - Kajan states in the appeal.
