Professional Fire Brigade Lacks 90 Firefighters

(Patria) - Acting Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton Kemal Cacan received members of the Management Board of the Trade Union Organization of the Professional Fire Brigade of Sarajevo Canton today, with whom he discussed the urgency of harmonizing all legal acts and regulations with the Collective Agreement for civil servants and employees in the state service bodies of Sarajevo Canton.

The meeting addressed the application of the Collective Agreement in amendments to all internal acts in state service bodies, given that the deadline for all managers to harmonize their internal regulations with this agreement is 90 days.

Trade union members informed Acting Director Kemal Cacan about the urgency of harmonizing all legal acts and regulations, and pointed out the urgent need to hire firefighters, as the organization plan indicates a shortage of about 90 firefighters.

The Management Board of the Trade Union Organization of the Professional Fire Brigade of Sarajevo Canton is extremely satisfied with the fact that the Government of Sarajevo Canton has, for the first time, appointed a non-partisan individual as Acting Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration, especially the fact that Kemal Cacan is a person who understands our work and our needs.

They emphasize that Kemal Cacan, a specialist professional engineer in protection and rescue, can improve the situation in the Professional Fire Brigade of Sarajevo Canton with his experience and restore the status and dignity that firefighters rightfully deserve.

It was stressed that all outstanding issues should be resolved in the upcoming period, and problems related to previous illegal actions by management members towards firefighters should be addressed.

Acting Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton Kemal Cacan emphasized that he respects the trade union struggle and has always supported full workers' rights, and that he will do everything to ensure that firefighters have all the necessary conditions and equipment for their work.

It was concluded that this was the first in a series of meetings, as all problems will be jointly resolved in the future with the respect of all participants in the decision-making process related to this area.
