Retail outlets in FBiH allowed to operate on January 2nd

(Patria) - The Government of the Federation of BiH, upon the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Trade, has made a decision on the operation of retail outlets on January 2nd, 2026, in order to ensure timely supply of the population and preserve the continuity of the goods supply chain.

The decision, initiated by the Association of Employers of FBiH, was made considering the larger number of consecutive non-working days at the beginning of January, as well as the need to ensure the availability of basic foodstuffs, especially fresh food products with a short shelf life.

Retail outlets will organize operations to the minimally required extent, in accordance with the actual market needs, to ensure the availability of goods to citizens, while rationally using working capacities.

At the same time, the decision provides for organizational flexibility, and retail outlets that can ensure uninterrupted supply through previously secured stocks or other organizational solutions are not obliged to work on the mentioned day.

The goal of this decision is to protect the public interest, market stability, and ensure basic conditions for the smooth functioning of the daily lives of citizens of FBiH during the holiday period.
