Problems for SDP in Zenica-Doboj Canton too: Doctor Adin Begić leaves party after 26 years, dissatisfaction grows daily

(Patria) - Problems in the SDP in the Zenica-Doboj Canton have reached a boiling point. With the change of leadership in the Maglaj Municipal Council, the recall of Mayor Mirsad Mahmutagić, who is also the head of the SDP BiH Zenica-Doboj Canton KO, is being prepared. However, dissatisfaction is not only in Maglaj, but also in other municipalities. The SDP also has problems in Sarajevo, which the party's Presidency will address.

Long-time member of SDP BiH, Doctor Adin Begić, announced on the social network Facebook why he decided to leave SDP BiH after 26 years. Begić is a councilor in the Doboj-Juga Municipal Council.

He stated that the SDP is not the party it claims to be.

"Unfortunately, it is everything but democratic, as shown by the last anti-statutory election of the SDP BiH president, who surrounded himself with people only interested in their own benefit. The cantonal organization of the SDP is on life support, in its most desperate state ever, thanks to the cantonal president, who, it turns out, is not competent for the task, surrounded by people who, due to their own interests (here I mean the presidents of the municipal organizations of Tešanj and Zavidovići), have led to mass dissatisfaction and a departure of members.

What I know is that no municipal organization, except for these three mentioned, is satisfied with the current situation, which culminated after the decision not to hold internal party elections, i.e., to freeze the situation until the local elections.

Although we were certainly the strongest SDP municipal organization in the entire country in the last 10 election cycles in terms of percentage of votes won, which ranged between 45% and 53% (in the general elections in 2018, we won as much as 53% of the votes, which was not recorded anywhere before), the Main Board of the SDP appointed a trusteeship for us because we loudly protested against the arbitrariness of those mentioned above, all with the aim of filling the election lists with their own people, which resulted in a drop in the number of votes in the 2022 elections by over 50% in our municipality.

I wouldn't even mention the catastrophic things in the governance of the state, the Federation, and the canton, which also resulted in the fall of the cantonal government of the Ze-Do Canton, which could be talked about at length," Begić stated.

He added that he and several other councilors will act in a separate club in the Municipal Council.
