Problems with illegal migration a complex area

(Patria) - Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office Gordana Tadić, with prosecutors and associates, met with the Head of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in BiH and the regional coordinator for the Western Balkans Peter Van Der Auweraert and his associate.

The discussion focused on migration in BiH, the situation with illegal migrants moving and staying in the territory of BiH, as well as the topic related to the return of BiH citizens from foreign battlefields.

Tadić informed Van Der Auweraert about the activities undertaken by the BiH Prosecutor's Office and partner institutions in combating criminal offenses related to illegal migration and migrant smuggling, as well as the work of the Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking and Illegal Migrations.

In the past year and this year, the BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed dozens of indictments for criminal offenses related to illegal migration and migrant smuggling, involving BiH citizens as well as foreign nationals who committed criminal offenses in BiH, and several joint and international operations have been conducted to combat these types of criminal offenses.

The meeting participants agreed to continue cooperation and regular communication between institutions.

It was emphasized at the meeting that problems related to illegal migration are a very complex area, and overcoming this problem requires the approach and engagement of all competent institutions within their jurisdictions, both at the BiH level and internationally, it was announced from the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
