Problems also in Zenica Hospital: SDA annuls the competition because their candidate does not have enough points!

Problems regarding the appointment of a director of a public hospital are also shaking Zenica. Local authorities have annulled the competition for the director of the Cantonal Hospital because their candidate Dr. Rasim Skomorac, the current acting director of this hospital, was not rated the best. Dr. Mersija Kasumović was better than him, reports the Patria news agency.

The authorities will most likely annul the second competition as well, because Skomorac again could not gather as many points as Dr. Kasumović. She, in addition to being a healthcare worker, also completed a school for top managers. This gives her an unattainable advantage over Skomorac.

For five years, acting directors have been rotating at the helm of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica. Patria's interlocutors claim that the largest hospital in Zenica is run by politics, not expertise. Skomorac is the sixth or seventh director of this hospital. And, he intends to remain in that position.

Dr. Skomorac is a high-ranking cadre of the SDA. During the October elections last year, he was a candidate for the Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. He even entered the assembly benches. He was appointed acting director of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica at the beginning of August last year. It was said that he could remain in that position no later than the beginning of February this year. Time is running out, and the SDA has no way to keep Skomorac at the helm of the Zenica hospital.

The Zenica hospital came to public attention at the end of last year, after both a mother and a baby died during childbirth. Doctors warn that they work in inhumane conditions, without equipment, and a large number of medical devices are not functioning.

- The family has the right to seek their rights if they believe something is not right, and that will be carried out. I have not contacted them nor have they contacted us, nor did I have any need to contact them - was the only comment from Dr. Skomorac, given to FTV, in response to a journalist's inquiry about the case of the deceased mother and baby.

At the same time, it was discovered that Skomorac is paying for his own education from the hospital's budget. The decision to finance his education in the amount of 1,800 KM was made by himself. Interestingly, few doctors from the Zenica hospital dare to speak about the problems in this health institution. Skomorac has banned anyone other than himself from appearing in the media.
