Prlić: A civic state is not unitary, it represents European values

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Vice-president of SDP BiH Lana Prlić reacted to the statement of the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović, who yesterday in Zagreb said that a civic state also means an Islamic state.

- A civic state does not necessarily mean a unitary state. SDP advocates for a civic state that will be decentralized, but not on the basis of ethnic divisions. Civic values are actually European values, and we are actually bearers of such values – Lana Prlić told the Patria news agency.

She adds that it is high time to stop dividing people on a national basis.

- We must stop dividing people based on their name and ethnic affiliation. I hope that one day in BiH every person will be able to run for any position, as is the case in Croatia and other EU countries.

The vice-president of SDP believes that every citizen has the right to vote for any candidate regardless of their national affiliation.

- I am very interested to know if the old Yugoslav Čović has calculated how many white people voted for Obama, or how many French citizens of Algerian origin voted for Macron – Lana Prlić concluded.
