Recognition for Canadian MP Emir Ramić: The fight for the truth about genocide does not stop

Professor Emir Ramić, director of the Institute for Genocide Research Canada, at the event of gratitude to Canadian activists in the fight for truth and justice titled: "Never Forget Srebrenica" held in Windsor, received a great recognition from the office of Brian Masse, a long-time member of the Canadian Parliament, a great friend of Bosniaks and Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria news agency.

The Institute announced that the plaque was awarded to Professor Ramić for his merits in the fight for truth and justice both in BiH and in the world, for his continuous struggle for human rights and freedoms, and for his continuous support to Brian Masse and other members of the Canadian Parliament and the Canadian government for the adoption of two resolutions on the genocide in Srebrenica and BiH in the Canadian Parliament.

Presenting the recognition to Professor Ramić, Brian Masse said, among other things:

-Without the leadership of Professor Ramić, it would have been difficult to achieve the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica and BiH and justice for the victims of that crime in Canada. With his tireless work, Professor Ramić simply drove us to do a human task, the political recognition of the genocide in Srebrenica in Canada.

-It is a permanent obligation of current generations towards all victims of the Holocaust and genocide, including the genocide in Srebrenica and BiH. The obligation of all of us is to discover and establish the human, social and scientific truth about genocide and other forms of crimes against humanity and international law, as an essential condition for achieving justice and rights, without which it is impossible to achieve reconciliation and build a common future in BiH.

All citizens of BiH origin living in Canada and many Canadians can testify to the contribution of Brian Masse in the fight for Canada to recognize and declare a day of remembrance for the genocide in Srebrenica, and to recognize that the crime of genocide was committed in Srebrenica. Despite resistance to the use of the words genocide and Bosniak, and despite attempts to reduce the number of victims of the genocide in Srebrenica by former Prime Minister Harper, the Canadian Bosniak community and Brian Masse did not give in. Truth and justice have prevailed, Ramić said.
