(Patria) - Due to deteriorating weather conditions and heavy snowfall that hit the Una-Sana Canton, a power outage occurred at the Temporary Reception Center Lipa, as well as in a large part of this canton. The power outage caused a disruption in heating the camp premises, as well as in the normal functioning of other services, which seriously endangered the health and safety of users and camp staff.
In order to protect the human rights, health and safety of all users, the Service for Foreigners' Affairs organized the temporary relocation of 113 users from the Temporary Reception Center Lipa to the Temporary Reception Center Borići in Bihać. This measure was implemented in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which provided transportation for the users, and with the assistance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and local authorities of the Una-Sana Canton.
The Service for Foreigners' Affairs continuously demonstrates its commitment to protecting human rights and humane values, always placing human dignity at the forefront. In these challenging conditions, the Service confirms that helping those who need it most is the basic principle of its operations.
We hereby thank all partners and institutions that participated in this action for their quick and efficient coordination.
The Service for Foreigners' Affairs will continue to monitor the situation at the TRC Lipa, and all measures will be taken in accordance with the best interests of the users, ensuring their safety and dignity in all circumstances.
