Opposition pressure bears fruit: Extraordinary session of the House of Peoples adjourned, no vote on selection of judges for the Constitutional Court of FBiH

(Patria) - The Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH, Tomislav Martinović, informed delegates tonight that he is adjourning the 6th extraordinary session of that house.

- I leave open the issue of the election of judges of the Constitutional Court of FBiH. I am adjourning the work of this session; you will be informed in a timely manner about its continuation - said Martinović, reports Faktor.

Let us recall, after the vote on the FBiH budget for 2025 and amendments to the Law on Budgets in FBiH, Martinović stated that the proposal of the Collegium was for the 6th extraordinary session to continue tonight, which sparked a heated debate among the delegates.

Earlier, the 6th extraordinary session of the House of Peoples was adjourned following a discussion on the appointment of judges to the Constitutional Court of FBiH.

Delegates from the Bosniak Club said that the invitation to continue this session did not arrive through formal channels, but was convened "secretly."

Delegate Haris Zahiragić (SDA) reiterated that the other missing judge who needs to be appointed does not have to be from the Croatian people.

- We informally learned that at the last session, HDZ insisted on appointing Boris Barun, who is a long-time candidate of HDZ, and today we learned that the proposal is Monika Mijić.

They waited for the delegates to leave the building in order to convene the session via microphone. Our position is that we will vote for a Bosniak.

How the Troika, after their delegates mustered the courage at the last session, is trying to hand over a judge of the Constitutional Court of FBiH again to the political force represented by HDZ - said Zahiragić.
