Preparations for the Pope's visit: Vatican delegation tours the Koševo stadium

A delegation from the Vatican, the Catholic Church in BiH and the Presidency of BiH, led by Borjana Krišto, vice-president of HDZBiH, arrived at the premises of the Olympic Stadium Asim Ferhatović Hase to check the security situation, in connection with the arrival of Pope Francis in Sarajevo in June, reports the Patria news agency.

The delegation was received by the management of the Centre for Sports and Recreation, director Jasmina Polić and other employees, who have just begun a meeting with the high delegation.

As Polić told us before the start, at this moment it is still not known whether the Pope will deliver his central address at the Koševo stadium in June, as Pope John Paul II did in 1997.

However, she emphasised that they, as stadium managers, are ready to do everything in their power to ensure this magnificent ceremony can be held right here.

- The high delegation toured the stadium, inquiring about all conditions. Among them were those who were here in 1997, and they did not hide their enthusiasm about how much the stadium has been renovated and how much better the conditions are. They did not state whether the Pope will deliver his central address at Koševo in June; they continued their tour. However, regardless of that, the CSR employees will prepare and provide additional conditions if required of us, so that this Pope too can deliver his central address at this very stadium, Haris Fazlagić, head of the marketing sector at CSR, told us.
