Preparations for the Public New Year's Eve 2017 Celebration in Final Stages

Preparations for the Public New Year's Eve 2017 Celebration, organized by the Canton of Sarajevo, the City of Sarajevo, and the four city municipalities, along with the organizational and production team of Dino Merlin's concert, have entered their final phase.

Sarajevo is preparing for what will be the most spectacular New Year's Eve celebration to date in Bosnia and Herzegovina Square, as befits a capital city. The biggest regional music star, Dino Merlin, in his hometown for the first time in his career, along with his team and the latest world-class production standards, will surely provide an unforgettable New Year's show for fellow citizens, tourists, and journalists, who have announced their arrival in large numbers from all parts of BiH, neighboring countries, and the rest of Europe.

- Fortunately, the weather is on our side, it has cleared up and the first snow has fallen. The organizational team has been working diligently all along to ensure everything is in perfect order on December 31st.

All of this is reminiscent of the day before the opening of the XIV Winter Olympics (1984), when there wasn't a single snowflake in Sarajevo. Everyone thought the Olympics wouldn't happen. That night, on February 8, 1984, unprecedented snow fell. Help came from Heaven. Everyone was relieved. The Olympics could begin. We want this year's open-air celebration to send a positive image from Sarajevo, just like during the Sarajevo Olympics.

The New Year's greeting from the Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić, and the image of Sarajevo's fireworks exactly at midnight will be broadcast across BiH and the world as a collective bouquet of good wishes for 2017. This "beautiful face" of Sarajevo will also be conveyed by the media, which will certainly contribute to even more tourists and citizens of Sarajevo wanting to welcome the New Year in the BiH capital in the open next year.

The City of Sarajevo, with its partners, invites its citizens, tourists, guests, and friends to come to Bosnia and Herzegovina Square and, together with DJ duo After Affair, special guests from London Yehan Jehan, the band Divanhana, and Dino Merlin, welcome the New Year 2017 - it was announced from the City Administration.
