UIO officers prevent smuggling of 3,350 packs of cigarettes from Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Regional Center Sarajevo, on the Sarajevo-Mostar road found and subsequently seized 3,350 packs of cigarettes that were not marked with excise stamps issued by the Authority. The estimated market value of the temporarily seized goods is approximately 17,570 KM.

This activity was carried out based on previously gathered operational information that the person with the initials K.A. from Zenica is engaged in the illegal sale of cigarettes, which he transports from Herzegovina to Zenica.

During this, a Skoda Superb vehicle was stopped and inspected in the village of Lepenica, Municipality of Kiseljak.

Further checks revealed that the person is a repeat offender, and reports will be filed against him with the Prosecutor's Office of BiH regarding the existence of grounds for suspicion of committing the criminal offense of Unauthorized Trafficking of Excise Products under Article 210a of the Criminal Code of BiH.

In the field activities, authorized UINO officers used specialized equipment donated to the Authority by the Government of the USA through the EXBS Program.
