SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Due to great media interest regarding the participation of members of the Armed Forces of BiH in the peacekeeping mission in Iraq, an official notification from the Ministry of Defence of BiH stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina has no members of its armed forces in that country.
"In the peace support mission in Iraq, members of the AF BiH were present from 2005 to 2008, with a unit for the destruction of UXO (unexploded ordnance)," the AF BiH announced.
Iran carried out a series of missile attacks on Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. local time on two military bases in Iraq where American soldiers are stationed.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said via Twitter that these were 'measures of self-defense' in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, and that Iran does not want an escalation of the conflict.
US President Donald Trump also commented after the attack:
"Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases in Iraq. Damage assessment is underway. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and best-equipped military in the world! I will make a statement tomorrow morning," Trump said via Twitter.
