KS Civil Protection Members with Machinery Participate in Flood Damage Repair in Slovenia

(Patria) - Today, a convoy consisting of material-technical and human capacities of the Sarajevo Canton protection and rescue services was dispatched to provide assistance to the Republic of Slovenia in repairing the consequences of catastrophic floods.

Yesterday, the Government of Sarajevo Canton, at the proposal of the KS Civil Protection Headquarters, made a Decision on engaging the protection structures of Sarajevo Canton to provide assistance to the Republic of Slovenia in repairing the consequences of floods during an emergency telephone session.

Based on the Decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH, it was determined that protection and rescue assistance would be provided in the form of heavy machinery, specifically excavators with crews from the protection and rescue structures of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period of 10 days, and by order of the Federal Civil Protection Headquarters, the engagement of protection and rescue services from Sarajevo Canton was ordered.

“We have just dispatched four vehicles and 15 members of the civil protection to alleviate the consequences of floods and for repairs in the friendly country of Slovenia. Of the total of six vehicles sent to Slovenia, four are from the KS Civil Protection and two from the RS Civil Protection. For the first time, the coordination mechanism for international protection and rescue assistance between the Council of Ministers of BiH, the entities, and analogously, the cantons, has been activated. I am proud that Sarajevo Canton is showing in this way that it is equipped for the most complex civil operations, but also ready to show solidarity at the international level,” stated KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk, congratulating the Director of the Sarajevo Canton Cantonal Civil Protection Administration Dženan Brkanić on the realization of this humanitarian activity.
