Princess Anne hears Hasan Nuhanović's testimony about the horrors of Srebrenica

The British Embassy in Sarajevo hosted the presentation of the book "Escape - The Road to Srebrenica" by Hasan Nuhanović last night at the Bristol Hotel, attended by Princess Anne, reports the BH news agency Patria.

The book "Escape - The Road to Srebrenica" speaks of the suffering of those who were forced to leave their destroyed villages and seek refuge in Srebrenica, as well as their suffering in Srebrenica in the period from 1992-1993, it was announced from the British Embassy, which helped translate this book.

- In a time burdened by events, on which who knows when opinions will align, we should be grateful to anyone who has seriously and conscientiously taken up writing as testimony. Nuhanović is one of those witnesses who distinguish what they saw from what they heard, and what they read. Therefore, we have a witness before us to whom we can refer. And when he says he heard something, Nuhanović states from whom he heard it. If he is not sure, he states that. Hasan Nuhanović is therefore an example to be emulated - wrote Alma Lazarevska in her review.

The author of the book, Hasan Nuhanović, thanked the British Embassy for organizing this event, and numerous dignitaries attended the event.

- As we have seen in recent weeks, despite all the evidence, some people continue to deny the tragic facts related to Srebrenica. Hasan Nuhanović is an important witness to the genocide, as well as the failure of the international community to prevent it. True reconciliation requires accepting the truth, as well as the determination not to repeat past mistakes. I am glad that Her Royal Highness Princess Anne was here tonight and heard Hasan's terrible story; just one of many contained in his book. I hope it will be a broader contribution to a wider understanding of what happened - said the British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edward Ferguson. 

Otherwise, Princess Anne arrived in BiH yesterday, and she will lead the United Kingdom's delegation in Srebrenica on July 11.
