Reception with Prime Minister Pivić: Government of ZDK supports the work of ANU BiH and VKBI

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Nezir Pivić and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mirza Mušija received today delegations of the Academy of Sciences and Arts (ANU) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Council of the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals (VKBI) from Sarajevo.

The ANU BiH delegation included Vice President, academician Lidija Lincender-Cvijetić, Secretary General, academician Asif Šabanović, and Secretary of the Secretariat Amra Avdagić, while the VKBI delegation consisted of President, academician Kasim Trnka, and Secretary General Emir Zlatar.

Prime Minister Pivić emphasized that ANU BiH is one of the most significant institutions and a symbol of the statehood of BiH, and VKBI is an organization that gathers Bosniak intellectuals with the aim of preserving the interests not only of the Bosniak people but also of all other peoples and the entire BiH society.

He stressed that they do their work on a voluntary basis out of love for science and the homeland, and they contribute to the entire society.

The Government of ZDK, he added, supports these institutions financially as well, and this year it allocated 25,000 KM each for this purpose.



- With this, we provide support for their work and strengthening, and we believe that in the future they will have stable funding at the state level, as befits them. Until then, we will certainly continue to provide support to ANU BiH and VKBI - stated Pivić.

He announced that financial support for these institutions will be increased next year.

Vice President of ANU BiH, academician Lidija Lincender-Cvijetić, thanked the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for recognizing the importance and supporting the work and projects of ANU BiH.

President of VKBI Kasim Trnka also thanked for the previous support and understanding of the importance of the activities that this organization carries out.

He announced that on Monday, December 22, in Sarajevo, the 33rd anniversary of the founding of VKBI will be marked, when certificates of appreciation will be awarded to individuals and institutions that have contributed to the work of this organization, including the Government of ZDK.

Trnka emphasized that VKBI, although operating as a non-governmental organization, implements projects that in other countries fall under the jurisdiction of national institutions, such as the creation of encyclopedias and capital scientific publications.

- Therefore, with full legitimacy, we address public authorities with the expectation that they support projects of national and state importance. We are glad that you responded and recognized the importance of our work - emphasized Trnka.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of ZDK Mirza Mušija emphasized the importance of these institutions as factors of integration and preservation of everything that holds the state together, but expressed regret that only lower levels of government recognize this value, while the state level is absent.

- ANU BiH and VKBI have both the obligation and the strength to oppose attacks on the statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In a time when many forces are working on its dissolution, it is important that there is a clear counterpoint - added Mušija.
