SDP BiH PROPOSAL Predrag Puharić candidate for 'interim' Mayor of Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Presidency of SDP Sarajevo has made a decision to propose Predrag Puharić for the position of Mayor of the City of Sarajevo. The session of the Sarajevo City Council is scheduled for today starting at 3 PM.

If he receives support today, Puharić will perform this duty until the constitution of the new convocation of the Sarajevo City Council and the procedure for electing a new mayor at the constitutive session, announced the Cantonal Board of SDP Sarajevo.

Predrag Puharić is a distinguished expert in the field of cybersecurity and digital transformation, with over 20 years of experience in education, research, and implementation of state-of-the-art security solutions in the digital space.

He graduated from the Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies at the University of Sarajevo. He completed further training as a Chevening Cyber Security Fellow at Cranfield University in Great Britain and as a CRDF International Cybersecurity Fellow at Purdue University in the USA.

He is also a recipient of a State Department IVLP scholarship. He currently holds the position of Director of the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity (CSEC) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his political career so far, Puharić has been a long-time member of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he served as secretary of the Cantonal Board of SDP Sarajevo for a period.

Sarajevo SDP reminds that the Statute of the City of Sarajevo stipulates that one of the deputy mayors can perform the duties of acting mayor for only 30 days.

"Considering that there are more than 30 days left until the constitution of the new convocation of the City Council, we have decided to elect a new mayor so that the city is not blocked again in the next 30 days," stated SDP.
