Proposal before the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton: General Hospital to get a Pediatrics Department

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Before the representatives of the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton on Monday, June 25, will be the Proposal for a decision on amendments and supplements to the Decision on the takeover of the rights and obligations of the founder and harmonization of the organization and operations of the Public Institution General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš", which relates to the formation of a Pediatrics Department that will have 15 beds.

The reasons for adopting this decision state that the formation of the Pediatrics Department at the PI General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" is necessary to harmonize the work of this institution with legal regulations, given that the Hospital does not have a formed Pediatrics Department within its structure.

- In the area of the Sarajevo Canton, there is no specially formed pediatric ward providing secondary healthcare. Namely, currently, health services for the pediatric population are provided at the primary level within the PI Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton and at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, at the secondary and tertiary levels. At the secondary level of healthcare in the PI General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš", a Pediatrics Department has not been established, which is not in accordance with legal regulations, which stipulate the hospital's obligation to also have pediatric activities. Bearing in mind that the complete pediatric service of the secondary and tertiary level is provided by the Pediatric Clinic of the KCUS, as well as the fact that at the primary healthcare level there is no organized pediatric service from 20:00 to 07:30 hours, and the expressed shortage of pediatric staff and the legal obligation, we consider it necessary to form a Pediatrics Department at the PI General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš".

For the implementation of this decision, it is necessary to provide financial resources in the amount of about 2,100,000 KM, of which 1,900,000 KM for the procurement of necessary equipment and 200,000 KM for the reconstruction of space, and for the realization of the mentioned project, funds will be secured from the Budget of the Sarajevo Canton for 2018 and 2019, namely in 2018 through the budget rebalancing or possible redistribution, and the missing funds for the realization of the entire project will be planned in the Budget of the Sarajevo Canton for 2019.
