(Patria) - The Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) was the official armed force of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an internationally recognized and sovereign country, during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was founded on April 15, 1992, and that date is celebrated as the Day of the ARBiH.
The Army was formed from the units of the Territorial Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and organized volunteers.
The Supreme Commander was the President of the Republic, and after the Dayton Agreement, the ARBiH, together with the HVO, formed the Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and after the defense reform, it was transformed into "Bosnian Rangers", one of the three regiments (2nd Infantry (Ranger) Regiment of the AF BiH within the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Regarding the structural organization of the Army, it should be noted that it was composed of corps. The corps were formed on a regional principle:
1st Corps: Sarajevo
2nd Corps: Tuzla
3rd Corps: Zenica
4th Corps: Mostar
5th Corps: Bihać
6th Corps: Konjic
7th Corps: Travnik
The most common symbol of the ARBiH was the lily, and the coat of arms was, in fact, the coat of arms of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the addition of golden swords and military inscriptions.
The highest decoration was the "Golden Lily", awarded for efficiency in fulfilling the purpose and goals of the ARBiH, and the purpose and goals were precisely the defense of the internationally recognized Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The anniversary of the formation of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be marked at the Dubrave barracks and airport, as well as by laying flowers and paying respects in Sarajevo according to the following schedule:
- 09:00-09:30 - Reception of delegations, city cemetery “Koševo” Sarajevo
- 09:30-10:00 - Laying of flowers - central memorial in Živinice,
- 10:30-12:45 - Central ceremony - Dubrave barracks and airport, Živinice,
- 12:45-13:00 - Media statement - Dubrave barracks and airport, Živinice.
