32 years ago, more than 70 Bosniaks were burned alive in Višegrad

(Patria) - Members of Serbian military units on June 14, 1992, locked more than 70 Bosniak civilians in the house of Sumbula Zeba, née Omeragić (Adem), known as the "Living Pyre on Pionirska Street, Višegrad" and burned them alive.

8 (eight) Bosniaks survived the Living Pyre.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (The Hague) declared the burning of people on Pionirska Street a crime against humanity, which took the form of murder, cruel and inhuman treatment, and extermination, carried out with premeditation and calculation, and sentenced Milan Lukić to life imprisonment, Sredoje Lukić to 27 years in prison, and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Radomir Šušnjar, known as "Lalco", to 20 years in prison.

In memory of the victims, the Association "Women-War Victims" will commemorate the LIVING PYRE on Pionirska Street on June 15, 2024, at 11:30 AM with survivors and family members of the civilians burned alive, and send a message to the executive and legislative authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, it was announced from the Association Women-War Victims, headed by Bakira Hasečić.
