Applications for the Peace March until July 7, registration also possible on July 8 in Nezuk before the column departs

(Patria) - This year's Peace March Nezuk-Potočari will be one of the largest, with more than 5,000 participants already registered.

The March organizers stated that applications can still be submitted via the website marsmira.net until July 7.

"Participants who have not applied but intend to take part in the 'Peace March' will be able to register on July 8 in Nezuk before the departure of the Peace March column," the Peace March announced.

The Peace March is a hiking event held as part of the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica and its surroundings, with the aim of paying tribute to the victims of the genocide and recalling the horrific crimes committed by the forces of the Army and Police of Republika Srpska, supported by forces from Serbia, against the Bosniaks of the UN 'Safe Area' Srebrenica in July 1995.

The column of participants sets off from Nezuk (Sapna municipality) and over three days covers a distance of about 100 kilometers to reach Potočari (Srebrenica). After the March, participants have the opportunity to attend the commemoration and take part in the funeral prayer and burial of identified genocide victims.

The route includes difficult-to-traverse hilly and mountainous terrain (Udrč, 1043 m), densely forested areas with streams, and passes through a number of returnee settlements, whose hospitality many participants of this march have experienced in previous years. At each of these locations, participants have the opportunity to see some of the significant sites from the not-so-distant past: places where mass executions of captured Bosniaks occurred, or sites where primary or secondary mass graves were found.

During the March, short history lessons are held at certain locations, where testimonies of survivors of the 1995 'Death March' can be heard, and many of them you will have the opportunity to meet personally, in the column of participants.

The Peace March lasts three days, from July 8 to July 10. Each stage is between 25 and 30 kilometers long. The column departs on July 8 between 8:45 AM and 9:00 AM from Nezuk, Sapna municipality. On the route from Nezuk - as the starting point, to Potočari - as the destination, participants follow the route: Nezuk - Baljkovica - Parlog - Crni Vrh - Snagovo - Liplje - Jošanica - Donja Kamenica - Bakrači - Glodi - Udrč - Cerska - Kaldrmica - Đugum - Mravinjci - Burnice - Kameničko Brdo - Ravni Buljim - Jaglići - Šušnjari - Budak - Potočari (Memorial Center).

For this year's burial, approvals have been given for seven victims, and given that it is the 30th anniversary of the genocide, a larger number of people is expected than in previous years.
