Friends erected a memorial plaque for Dženan Uščuplić on Bukovik, attended by Husref Musemić

(Patria) - On Bukovik, the peak of Sarajevo's Ozren, a memorial plaque was erected today for the tragically deceased FK Sarajevo footballer Dženan Uščuplić.

The monument was placed by his friends in the presence of former star and coach Husref Musemić, with the message that Dženo will never be forgotten.

Dženan Uščuplić tragically died in a storm on August 8th this year on Zelengora mountain, where his friends had also erected a memorial plaque.

This former footballer, and later coach of FK Sarajevo, loved nature and mountains as much as football.

Dženan Uščuplić was born on August 18, 1975, in Sarajevo. After going through the youth academy of Željezničar, he joined Sarajevo during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Like most young Sarajevo players at the time, he played his first match in March 1994 against a UNPROFOR selection.

He played as a left-back, but was also capable of offensive duties. Known for his powerful shot, he was the best defender in the First League of BiH in the early post-war years, and a regular member of the youth national team.

In total, Uščuplić played 121 official matches for Sarajevo, scoring 28 goals. He won three BiH Cups and one Supercup with Sarajevo, and after his prematurely ended career, he dedicated himself to coaching.

He coached several FK Sarajevo teams.
