Indirect tax revenues in 2024 are higher by 901 million KM compared to 2023

(Patria) - Indirect tax revenues in 2024 amounted to 11 billion and 541 million KM, which is 901 million KM or 8.47% higher than in the same period of 2023, when they amounted to 10 billion and 640 million KM.

The Indirect Taxation Authority collected the largest amount of indirect taxes since the establishment of the institution.

In the past year, there was no increase in indirect tax rates; the revenue growth was conditioned partly by inflationary trends and partly by activities undertaken by the ITA.

RECIPIENTS RECEIVED AS MUCH AS 1 BILLION AND 15 MILLION KM MORE COMPARED TO 2023

After collecting indirect tax revenues, the ITA first processes VAT refunds to taxpayers who have legally obtained the right to a refund. Based on this, the Authority refunded 2 billion and 91 million KM to the economy in 2024. The remainder of the collected revenues went to recipients.

Thus, net collected revenues distributed to recipients in the period January-December 2024, which include the state, entities, and Brčko District, amounted to 9 billion and 449 million KM, and are 1 billion and 15 million KM higher than the revenues received by recipients from the Single Account for the same period in 2023.

SURPLUS REVENUE MOSTLY WENT TO ENTITIES AND BRČKO DISTRICT

For the financing of state institutions in 2024, an amount of 1 billion and 20 million KM was allocated. The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina received a total allocation of 5 billion and 185 million KM, the Republika Srpska 2 billion and 905 million KM, and Brčko District 291 million KM.

In the table below, we present the total allocated funds to entities and Brčko District BiH, including the corresponding external debt, in the period January-December 2024, compared to the same period last year. All amounts are expressed in millions of KM.



In addition to the allocated revenues in the table above, based on the special toll for highway construction and the construction and reconstruction of other roads (0.25 KM), the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina received an additional 241 million KM, the Republika Srpska 159 million KM, and Brčko District 8 million KM. The difference represents a reserve in a special toll account amounting to 0.25 KM.
