Cleaning of the Miljacka riverbed and wall in Stari Grad nearing completion

The Stari Grad Municipality, through its Civil Protection Service, has initiated the cleaning of the Miljacka riverbed from Drvenija to the Bentbaša dam – the section of the river that flows through Stari Grad, with a total length of 2,200 meters (left and right sides). The works began in July this year, when the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters, due to overgrown vegetation and bushes in the riverbed, as well as the appearance of snakes and rodents, made a decision to undertake emergency measures.

The walls of the riverbed have been cleared of vegetation and grass, coated with a substance that prevents weed growth, washed of accumulated mud and waste, and then grouting was carried out. According to information from the Civil Protection Service, the entire right side of the Miljacka riverbed (1,100 meters) has been completed, and only the grouting of part of the wall on the left side remains.

- On the left side, from the direction of Toplik towards Drvenija, stone grouting is being carried out, and about 400 meters of wall remain. In total, this project has covered approximately 9,500 m2 of wall in the Miljacka riverbed - they said in the Civil Protection Service and announced that the works will be completed by the end of this month.
