Surviving miner: I am alive, but the grief is immense, no one can bring them back

The accident at the Begići-Bištrani pit claimed four lives and left wives and children without husbands and fathers. Two workers survived the tragedy, reports the Patria news agency.

Miner Džemal Ibrahimspahić was in the pit with Muhamed Sarač, Nermin Mušija, Mijo Stojičić and Sejad Gađun. He was injured but survived.

Of the six miners who were building a chamber for the substation, four did not come out of the pit alive. Two were injured, one lightly and the other more seriously.

The injured are supervisor Haris Mušija, who has been doing this job since 1997, and Džemal Ibrahimspahić, born in 1980, employed as a loader in the mine since 2010.

Miner Haris Mušija is more seriously injured but not in life-threatening condition, while Džemal Ibrahimspahić is lightly injured.

The two injured miners from the Kakanj pit Begići-Bištrani were immediately treated at the Emergency Department of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital after the accident.
