Srebrenica genocide survivor Adel Šabanović lectures Schmidt: They threaten us, attack us, hide mass graves, do something

(Patria) - Srebrenica genocide survivor Adel Šabanović, ahead of the departure of the convoy with 14 identified genocide victims, asked to speak with High Representative Christian Schmidt, who was standing with other officials in front of the BiH Presidency.

Schmidt approached Šabanović, who told him that victims are still waiting for justice and urged him to take action.

"They threaten us, they threaten secession, they rub salt in our wounds, us victims. 13 returnees have been killed, 22 wounded. Five were attacked last year, please do something," Šabanović said.

Schmidt said that the international community must therefore remain in BiH.

"The promise is: Something like that will never happen again," said Schmidt, while Šabanović replied that the international community was present in 1993 and in July 1995 when they were "slaughtering, killing, abducting, taking away, raping, hanging".

"There are still victims in mass graves that we cannot find, they won't tell us," said Adel.

"You are absolutely right," said Schmidt, emphasizing the need for respect for the victims.
