Deceived youth tell Uk: It will take years to correct negligence and idleness, instead of support we received lies and deception

(Patria) - A reaction was published on the Facebook group "Hyperprivileged Caste", which brings together young people who were eligible for the subsidy for the purchase of their first property in 2023, after the announcement that the Government of Sarajevo Canton would be reconstructed.

As Patria reported this morning, Nihad Uk took over a responsible position from the parliamentary bench and became the head of KS, and he will be remembered for the dispute with more than 1,000 young people who were deceived regarding subsidies for the purchase of their first property. We remind you that 10,000 to 12,000 KM was promised in the public call, and young people were paid 4,800 KM each, which is the lowest subsidy amount ever paid. The KS Government did not find a way to secure additional funds for young people throughout 2024, and a new call was never issued.

In their reaction, the young people state that on December 19, 2024, Nihad Uk stated in the City Hall that "some" had tried to cast a shadow on the last public call for subsidies.

""Some" tell him that it will take years to correct the idleness and negligence towards the youth of Sarajevo Canton! His populist statements and actions have led to hundreds of young people holding protests throughout 2024, fighting for their rights, which were standard in all previous years, until he came to the position of prime minister. We can freely say that our struggle is the biggest youth rebellion against the ruling structure in the last 10 years. It is regrettable that young people have to fight for their rights from those who prided themselves on promoting youth rights, pro-natalist, and pro-European policies. Everything we experienced from them was the complete opposite. We will certainly learn from our mistakes and in the future support those who have unequivocally stood by us because they know the value of young people.

Our mistake was relying on the system's support for the first time to solve the housing issue, and in return, we received lies and deception. We sincerely expect the new Government of Sarajevo Canton to rectify the injustice towards the recipients of reduced subsidies, as well as a serious approach to new measures for young people within Sarajevo Canton," they stated.
