Klix.ba Raid: Pressure on Media and Suppression of Free Speech

Lejla Turčilo, Vice-Dean for Teaching at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo, stated in an interview with the BH news agency Patria that she is not familiar with the details of the raid on the Klix.ba newsroom, but that in any case, the media is under pressure.

- Institutions have the right to do their job if someone breaks the law, but in any case, I support media professionals and colleagues from Klix - said Turčilo.

She added that in any case, she is for the freedom and unimpeded work of journalists and freedom of public speech.

- This is important for democracy, that exactly such pressures do not exist - said Turčilo.

Borka Rudić, Secretary General of the BH Journalists Association, called the raid on the Klix.ba newsroom a terrorist incursion.

- This is the greatest suppression of free speech to date. Journalists must publish every piece of news that can be of benefit to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and no one can force them to reveal their source. The newsroom has been blocked since this morning, no one has access to the newsroom, they are not broadcasting news - said Rudić.

Ljiljana Zurovac, President of the Press Council, is in front of the Klix portal's newsroom. She stated that at this moment she is in a police state because the pressure exerted on the Klix newsroom since this morning is only carried out in police states.

- This is not about suppressing free speech, but about the most severe attack on the media and citizens - said Zurovac.
