KS Government Press Conference due to Enormous Air Pollution

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The KS Government has announced a press conference for Friday during a session break due to the enormous air pollution that Sarajevo citizens have been suffocating in for days. High concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 pollutants in the air are affecting the health of the population. The number of people suffering from respiratory diseases has increased. 

Particularly vulnerable population groups include: pregnant women, the elderly, and children, as well as individuals with respiratory and heart problems, who are advised to stay indoors. 

The Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs announced that it is conducting field inspections.

"Regarding the Sarajevo Canton, inspectors from the Federal Urban Planning and Environmental Inspectorate have, in the previous days, supervised almost all operators within their jurisdiction in the Sarajevo Canton. Inspections were carried out at 15 boiler plants of KJKP 'Toplane' Sarajevo, which use natural gas as fuel. A large number of operators, such as quarries, asphalt plants, concrete plants, and similar facilities, are not operating or are operating at significantly reduced capacity during this period. It was determined that all other operators are aware of the episode and are implementing preventive measures to reduce their impact on air quality," the statement said. 

KS Prime Minister Edin Forto and ministers in the KS Government will address the press conference.
