DF Press Conference: Komšić says Strasbourg Court ruling is a message to the Trio as well

(Patria) - The Democratic Front held a press conference today regarding the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights on Zlatan Begić's appeals.

The case "Begić v. Bosnia and Herzegovina", pending before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), has concluded with a partial acceptance of Zlatan Begić's complaints and a finding of discrimination in terms of his candidacy for the President or Vice-President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for a leadership position in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

DF President Željko Komšić stated that the rulings indicate the justification for resisting the actions of the High Representative.

“I would not want all of this to be perceived as some kind of lamenting the injustice that the citizens of this country suffer. There is no lamenting, this is another legal victory in the fight for an idea that is salvific for BiH, and that is a civic Bosnia and Herzegovina. Let's not be overly optimistic that this will suddenly dawn and that this will be implemented just like that; the current authorities in BiH, or rather the parties that benefit from this constitutional and legal system, are unlikely to do anything about this issue,” said Komšić and added:

"These decisions have also confirmed the conscious decision of the Trio to participate in a political charade. Christian Schmidt consciously went into this, and the Strasbourg Court has confirmed it, and this is a message to those who participated in the game; the then-US ambassador led the entire game, and Schmidt was the executor,” said Komšić.

Komšić stated that one appeal by the DF was rejected, but he will read it and assess what to do next.
