(Patria) - The physical volume of electricity exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first quarter of this year amounted to 2.23 TWh, which is 2.5 percent more than in the same period last year, while the financial effect of these electricity exports amounted to 172 million KM, which is 53.3 percent less compared to the same period in 2023.
Based on data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH and the Independent System Operator in BiH, the president of the Regional CIGRE (SEERC), which brings together 17 countries from the wider Southeast European region, Edhem Bičakčić, stated that the physical volume of net exports in the first quarter of this year amounted to 0.94 TWh, representing a decrease of 17 percent, while in financial terms, net exports are lower by 52.7 percent.
"The reason for the lower, or rather halved, financial effects of exports compared to last year is the lower price of electricity on the exchanges, which is a consequence of a relatively mild winter and quite good filling of natural gas storage facilities in Western Europe," said Bičakčić.
Current electricity prices on the exchanges are around 90 EUR per MWh.
