Radenko Tomić Gargija, former member of the notorious Garda Panteri, has died

(Patria) - Former member of the Garda Panteri, Radenko Tomić Gargija, died on October 15 in the Zvornik hospital.

Tomić was one of those who, out of hatred for their Bosniak neighbors, were among the first to put on uniforms and make themselves available to Serbian forces during the war in BiH, particularly in the context of the Srebrenica genocide.

Tomić, originally from Srebrenica, chose a shameful path not only during the war but also after its end.

During the conflict, he participated in numerous battles, from Srebrenica to Bijeljina, fighting on the side of the Serbian aggressor.

As a major in the Garda Panteri, he directly participated in the Srebrenica genocide in 1995.

The Panteri, whose leader was the liquidated criminal Ljubiša Savić Mauzer, remained in the memory of many Bosniaks from the areas of Bijeljina, Janja, and Brčko. Of course, not for good.

They are considered responsible for many crimes in those areas, although none of their members have been prosecuted.

Tomić was particularly remembered for his presence in Potočari and Branjevo, where mass crimes against Bosniaks were committed.

In footage from Potočari in 1995, Tomić was identified by the purple scarf he wore on his head.



His presence at the Branjevo farm on July 16, 1995, was testified to by Dražen Erdemović, a former member of the Vojska RS, who admitted his participation in the executions and cooperated with the courts.

According to Erdemović's statement, Tomić arrived at Branjevo that day with a group of 15 people from Bratunac, where they jointly participated in the shooting of Bosniak prisoners.

Although numerous witnesses, including Erdemović, have publicly spoken about his role in war crimes, Tomić was never prosecuted.

Unfortunately, this is the result of a weak judicial system and the concealment of evidence by the authorities of the RS entity, due to which many war criminals have remained unpunished.

Radenko Tomić Gargija, who chose the path of crime and hatred, departs unprosecuted, leaving behind a memory of indelible traces of suffering and pain he committed in the name of a criminal regime.
