Former frontman of the band "Idoli" and prominent musician of the Yugoslav new wave Vlada Divljan (56) passed away today in Vienna, after battling a serious illness for years, which worsened in recent months, reports the BH News Agency Patria.
He began his career in the late seventies. He was a member of the jazz-rock groups Merlin and Zvuk Ulice, and from 1980 to 1984 he led the vocal-instrumental band Idoli, when he actually gained fame.
From 1985, Vlada Divljan began his solo career, during which he continued with the pop-rock format while also working on film music. From August 1991 to September 1997, he lived in Australia (Sydney), after which he returned to Belgrade. From June 1999, he lived and worked in Vienna, where he passed away.
The public learned about his illness at the end of January when the musician said he had been admitted to a hospital in Vienna due to problems caused by a past inflammation of the peritoneum.
