Another miner from Kakanj dies

A miner identified by initials E.M. (38) died at the Cantonal Hospital in Zenica after falling ill. He was one of the 28 miners who were in the Begići pit on October 13 this year, following a serious mining accident in which four miners were killed, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Unofficially, sources from the Kakanj mine told the Patria agency that miner E.M. was not near the epicenter of the accident, but suffered shock like the other surviving miners.
After the accident, E.M. went on annual leave, but died on Monday at the Cantonal Hospital in Zenica.

The mine later announced that the deceased miner was Elvis Mašić.

An autopsy has been ordered, along with the seizure of medical documentation, to determine the facts regarding the previous medical treatment of the deceased Mašić.

Mašić worked as a locksmith in the assembly group of the Mechanical Service of the Haljinići Plant. He had been employed at the mine since January 8, 2008. He also worked as a rubber conveyor belt remover and loader.

Elvis is survived by his wife and two minor children, reports NAP.
