One of the leading news photographers, Hrvoje Polan, passes away

(Patria) -  One of the leading news photographers, Hrvoje Polan, has passed away at the age of 48. He worked, among others, for Feral Tribune, Jutarnji list, Reuters and Agence France Presse, primarily covering war conflicts around the world, including those in the former Yugoslavia, Albania, Iraq, Gaza, and the West Bank. 

At the end of last year, he promoted the book "Beyond Seven Camps - From the Crime of Culture to the Culture of Crime". This is an authorial work by Polan, journalist and writer Viktor Ivančić, and journalist and researcher Nemanja Stjepanović, published by Belgrade-based forumZFD, which deals with cultural centers and cultural facilities that were turned into camps and torture sites during the wars of the 1990s in the former Yugoslavia.

In one of his last interviews, Polan spoke to the Patria news agency about the attitude towards war crimes from the 1990s and the need for catharsis in the Western Balkans so that ordinary people could finally experience peace and security.
