Halid Čengić Hadžija, one of the key figures of the Army of RBiH's wartime logistics, has passed away

(Patria) - Halid Čengić Hadžija passed away today at the age of 91.

He was born in 1935 in Odžak near Foča.

He left a deep mark on the political and social life of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He was one of the most important figures in the organization of the logistics of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war.

Before the war, he worked in the economic sector, and the experience gained in managing military food capacities was later used in the newly formed context.

After the outbreak of aggression against BiH, he left Foča for Visoko, where he participated in the establishment of the Main Logistics Center of the Army of RBiH.

Čengić is also remembered as one of the delegates at the Bosniak Congress in 1993, a key event for the affirmation of Bosniak national identity, at which the national name Bosniak was restored.

His son Hasan Čengić, one of those convicted in the Sarajevo trial of 1983, was an important figure in Bosniak political life, during and after the war.
