Long-time journalist Petar Luković, Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo since 2010, has passed away

(Patria) - Journalist Petar Luković passed away this morning in Belgrade after a long and serious illness, his family announced.

Born on January 21, 1951, in Kraljevo, he attended the Sixth Belgrade Gymnasium and graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade, according to Luković's biography.

He began his career in 1976 as a journalist for "Duga". As a political and rock and roll critic, he wrote for many newspapers and magazines, such as "Džuboks", "Mladost", "Polet", "Nedelja", "Nedeljna Dalmacija", "Politika", "Oslobođenje", "Vjesnik", "Rok 82", and "Rok".

He was the editor-in-chief of the portal "E-novine", worked for the Belgrade weekly "Vreme", where he was also deputy editor-in-chief for a time, and also wrote for "Naša Borba".

He wrote for the Croatian satirical weekly "Feral Tribune" from its founding in 1984. He collaborated with the magazines "Reporter" from Belgrade, "Dani" from Sarajevo, and "Mladina" from Ljubljana.

He was the editor-in-chief of the magazine "X Zabava" and worked for RTV Pink.

He also published three books: "Bolja prošlost", "Ćorava Kutija", and "Godine raspada – hronika srpske propasti".

He received the "Dragiša Kašiković" award in 1994, and the daily Danas award "Staša Marinković" in 2001.

He was declared an Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo in 2010.
