
(Patria) - Zdravko Marošević, long-time mayor of Vareš municipality, passed away today at the age of 69, reported Hrvatski radio Bobovac.
"With deep sadness, we bid farewell to our mayor, a man who worked with sincere dedication for the good of the community and all its people. His energy, vision, and honesty have left a lasting mark on the municipality of Vareš. Thank you for every day of service, for understanding, support, and courage. He will remain in our memories as a leader, but also as a man with a big heart. A man who brought joy, kindness, and peace with his presence.
His words, deeds, and warmth will forever be a part of our lives, it was announced.
At the moment we bid farewell, we express our deep gratitude to our mayor, who dedicated his life to the community, serving with dignity and responsibility. His deeds will be permanently inscribed in the history of our municipality. Although he left us too soon, the memory of him will live on in all who knew him. Goodbye, dear Zdravko, our friend, may you have eternal peace. Rest in peace. We express our sincere condolences to his wife Marina and all the bereaved," stated Hrvatski radio Bobovac.
Zdravko Marošević was born in 1956 in Vareš. He completed primary school in Vijaka and secondary electrical engineering school “Jaroslav Černi” in Sarajevo. He spent his working life employed in the economy, including three years as a self-employed entrepreneur.
During the war, he earned an officer's rank in the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and retired as such.
He was first elected mayor of Vareš municipality in the local elections in 2016.
