Dr. Manojlo Babić, esteemed university professor and economic expert, passed away

(Patria) - On Friday, October 25, 2024, Prof. Dr. Manojlo Babić passed away in Sarajevo at the age of 91.

He dedicated his entire life to economic sciences and will be remembered as one of the most eminent economic experts in the former Yugoslavia, and later in the newly formed states after the breakup of Yugoslavia. He dedicated the last decade of his life, along with Prof. Dr. Mirko Puljić and Prof. Dr. Aziz Šunje, to developing the Reform of the Public Enterprise Management System in BiH and strengthening them, as a condition for obtaining candidate status for the EU.

Esteemed university professor and economic expert Manojlo Babić was born on June 3, 1934, in the village of Vojskova, municipality of Kozarska Dubica.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo and became an assistant. After his doctorate (which he prepared in Nottingham, Great Britain), he became an associate and then a full professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo. Before taking on the role of dean of this higher education institution, Prof. Babić held the positions of Director of the Economic Institute and Director of the Institute for Organization.

As a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, he taught the subjects of Organization and Management. He authored numerous textbooks, books, and scientific papers. At the height of his career in Belgrade, with the renowned economic expert Prof. Dr. Ljubomir Madžar, he co-owned the company MB Centar, where they both worked on projects for the restructuring of old socialist enterprises into modern, market-oriented companies of the new era.

Prof. Dr. Manojlo Babić will be buried on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 2:15 PM at the "Bare" city cemetery in Sarajevo.
