Usnija Redžepova passes away

Folk singer Usnija Redžepova passed away this morning at the age of 69 after a serious illness, reports the Patria news agency, Serbian media say.

Redžepova will be buried in a few days in Skopje. The queen of southern melody had been suffering from lung cancer for three years, and on Monday her condition significantly worsened.

Redžepova is one of the few who can boast a rich discography and hits such as „Rasule se kose moje“, „Živote moj“, „Niška banja, topla voda“, „O, pesmo moja“, „Ja sa juga, ti sa severa“ and many others.

She is also remembered as the famous Koštana - a character from the novel by Bora Stanković, which she performed for a long time on the Great Stage of the National Theatre in Belgrade.
