Adela Merdžanić passes away, the illness was stronger

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Adela Merdžanić, former handball representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, died on Sunday from cancer at the age of 39.

"With great sadness and pain, we inform our members, fans and friends that the heart of our lioness and legend Adela Merdžanić has stopped beating, who passed on to a better world after a battle with a serious illness," the Women's Handball Club Ilidža announced late last night.

A year and a half ago, Adela was diagnosed with colon cancer with a metastasis to the liver, and Adela began treatment in Germany at the end of last year. Money for treatment was collected through humanitarian actions.

Upon returning to Sarajevo from one of the therapies at the beginning of January, Adela also announced that she was infected with the coronavirus.
