Documentary film 'Heroes of Truth and Memory' premiered

(Patria) - The documentary film "Heroes of Truth and Memory", which talks about the first institutionally organized trip of high school students from Sarajevo Canton to the March of Peace, premiered last night at the Sarajevo Memorial Center.

The film was produced by Goldenscreen studio from Sarajevo, and the author of the film is Almedin Karić.

This year, for the first time, students and educators from Sarajevo Canton participated in the March of Peace in an organized manner, thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Upbringing of Sarajevo Canton and the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education.

The goal of this undertaking was to gather students, teachers, and principals of KS high schools to, on the 20th anniversary of the March of Peace and the year of the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica by the UN General Assembly, pay tribute to the victims, and encourage dialogue about the importance of preserving peace and insisting on justice.

- For the educational system of Sarajevo Canton, this is a historic undertaking because for the first time a large number of students from different high schools participated in the March of Peace together. Previously, we only had one school that took its students to the March of Peace.

This is an important step in building and nurturing a culture of remembrance and memory through the educational system, with the aim of new generations remembering the past, learning from it, and always advocating for peace, justice, and solidarity - said the Minister of Education and Upbringing of KS, Naida Hota-Muminović.

During the March of Peace, various activities were organized, including educational workshops, lectures, and cultural events, with the aim of informing participants about the historical context of the events in Srebrenica and encouraging dialogue about truth, justice, reconciliation, and building a future without conflict.

The promotion was also attended by the Speaker of the KS Assembly Elvedin Okerić, KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk, Minister for Veterans' Affairs KS Omer Osmanović, Director of the Sarajevo Memorial Center Ahmed Kulanić, students' families, principals, educators from Sarajevo Canton, businessmen, and organizations that supported the students' trip to the March of Peace.
