Premier in Srebrenica: Even 21 Years Later, the Victims Are in the Thoughts and Hearts of the People of Scotland

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, accompanied by the UK Ambassador to BiH Edward Ferguson, visited Srebrenica today. She met with the Mayor of Srebrenica, Ćamil Duraković, with whom she discussed the current situation in this town, reports the Patria news agency.

-I had a very pleasant meeting with Mayor Duraković. It is an honor to be able to visit Srebrenica and pay tribute to those who lost their lives here – and to show that even 21 years later, they remain in the thoughts and hearts of the people of Scotland.

In our world, there should be no place for any form of hatred or intolerance based on race, origin, or religion. We must ensure that we remember the past but work together to eliminate fear and mistrust and increase mutual understanding and respect in order to build a brighter future for our children, said the Scottish First Minister.

During her stay in Srebrenica, Sturgeon visited the Potočari Memorial Center and met with the Mothers of Srebrenica.
