Prime Minister Pivić calls on FBiH Government to transfer planned 32 million KM to Zenica-Doboj Canton

(Patria) - The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, at a session chaired by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, reviewed the Report on the Execution of the Canton's Budget for the period January-September 2024 and concluded that the budget situation is stable despite the fact that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not yet transferred the installment of 32 million KM planned in this year's budget, as in previous years.

"Unfortunately, the Federal Government has not even made a decision to approve, let alone transferred the funds. This is a serious problem because the funds are already planned in the budget, just as other cantons have planned this income, and it is truly worrying that they have such an irresponsible and unfair attitude towards the cantons, because a number of regulations they adopt at the federal level impose obligations on the cantons," said Prime Minister Pivić.

He appealed to the FBiH Government to honor its obligation to the cantons, as these are significant funds since a large number of social and constitutional obligations, which account for up to 70 percent of the expenditure side, are fulfilled from this canton's budget.

"Therefore, it is very important that the planned revenues, which are extremely significant for ZDC, but also for other cantons, are fully realized. Otherwise, we will be forced to take out loans, which we had planned for but believed would not be necessary if the FBiH Government transferred the funds, because we have undertaken additional obligations through salary increases for education, police, healthcare, and public administration," said the Prime Minister of ZDC.
