Prime Minister Pivić at the Ceremony Marking the Day of Police of Zenica-Doboj Canton: Strengthening Police Personnel and Resources for Better Citizen Security

(Patria) - A delegation of the cantonal government, led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, attended the central ceremony marking the Day of Police of Zenica-Doboj Canton, held at the Training and Accommodation Center of the Special Police Unit in Zenica.

Congratulating the Day of Police, the Prime Minister paid special tribute to police officers who laid down their lives in the defense of BiH or in the performance of other official duties.

He emphasized that citizen security is one of the most important tasks of all levels of government, and that the Government of ZDC confirms through concrete measures and activities that citizen security is "the priority of all priorities", and that the vision of this government is a police force as a public service at the service of citizens.

"The Zenica-Doboj Canton continuously invests in security. We are aware that a modern, efficient, and motivated police force does not emerge by chance – it is built systematically. In the last two years, a great leap has been made: budgets have been increased, modern equipment has been purchased, working conditions have been improved, and the status of officers has been significantly enhanced. For 2025, we have allocated more than 91 million convertible marks for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – which is even 30 million more than two years ago," stated Prime Minister Nezir Pivić.

The Cantonal Minister of Internal Affairs, Emir Vračo, said that on the Day of Police, he stands before the assembled members of the MUP of ZDC filled with pride and gratitude, because "together we are creating an environment where there are no protected individuals, where those who produce and sell drugs, those who steal our citizens' property, those who endanger their lives and attack the foundations of our state – will never feel comfortable while planning and carrying out their misdeeds".

Prime Minister Pivić said that the Government of ZDC is proud of the fact that this canton is at the very top in the Federation in terms of police salaries.

"In the last year and a half, during the mandate of the government I lead, salaries have been increased twice, and this is a commitment we will maintain in the future. We believe that only a satisfied and respected officer can serve with integrity and confidence," Pivić emphasized.

At the ceremony, recognitions and awards were presented to deserving police officers from all organizational units of the MUP and the Police Administration.
